Brian leads the Data Quality Operations group at Aclima, which is responsible for sensor calibrations, deployed device performance, and quality control. In addition to his primary focus on data quality, Brian brings his years of experience in air quality and atmospheric science to support data product and platform research and development at Aclima. He also works closely with Aclima’s customer success team to provide technical support and communications to customers and to the public.  Brian is the lead Project Manager for the California Statewide Mobile Monitoring Initiative (SMMI) and is dedicated to ensuring that the data collected through SMMI meets community needs and expectations and ultimately helps achieve meaningful improvements in air quality for California’s most impacted citizens.

Prior to joining Aclima, Brian worked in the GHG Attribution Laboratory at Sandia National Lab, leading efforts to characterize uncertainties in high precision GHG measurements as part of field studies in both Alaska and California. He received his doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Vermont, where he was a US EPA STAR Fellow, followed by post-doctoral appointments at University of California Berkeley and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory. He has published in Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences,  Environmental Science and Technology,  Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics, and Journal of Geophysical Research, among others.

Brian is originally from the Greater Boston Area and moved to the East San Francisco Bay Area in 2007, where he still resides, along with his wife and 2 kids.
