# Community Impact and Investment Index

A first-of-its-kind hyperlocal air pollution national index, available through Aclima Pro

## Shape solutions in community context

Aclima Pro features a first-of-its-kind national index, built in partnership with UrbanFootprint, that combines our hyperlocal air pollution and greenhouse gas measurements with key indicators.  Analyze Aclima’s hyperlocal air quality and greenhouse gas data in context with nationwide and localized urban, climate, community vulnerability, and socioeconomic data. Target investments and solutions for highest impact in the communities that need them most.

## The Aclima advantage

Aclima’s Community Impact and Investment Index covers the variables that other tools miss. From spatial extent, resolution, and frequent updates to layers that show climate and natural hazards, race, and ethnicity, we’ve created a tool to target investments and solutions for highest positive impact.

The Community Impact and Investment Index was built in partnership with UrbanFootprint. The Index, available through Aclima Pro, leverages UrbanFootprint's nationwide urban, climate, community vulnerability, and additional socioeconomic data and modeling expertise, to accurately identify areas where investment should be prioritized.

## Drive action in communities

Understand impacts and target investments

#### Current & Relevant

Data layers are updated quarterly, versus other tools that are updated just once a year (or every few years).

Current & Relevant

#### More Detailed

Higher resolution data at the census block level (vs. tract or block group) matches how a community experiences exposures and risks.

More Detailed

#### Intersectional Lens

The only solution available today that explores the intersection of race and ethnicity with climate — a significant step toward achieving environmental justice and equity for every community.

Intersectional Lens

#### Redefining Vulnerability

Expanded vulnerability definition to include all factors that cause sensitivity to pollution such as age, financial resources, health and disabilities.

Redefining Vulnerability

#### Better Measure of Impact

Continuum-based indices show variation in environmental impact rather than the traditional binary (yes/no) approach, which fails to capture the complexities of lived experiences.

Better Measure of Impact

#### Always Iterating

We’re always working to improve the tool to better understand community impacts and target investments — with world-renowned science partners and cutting-edge technology, Aclima is always iterating and improving for user experience and value.

## Air Disparities in the Bay Area

Results from the first major application of Aclima and UrbanFootprint's Community Impact and Investment Index — covering 101 cities, 9 counties, and nearly 8 million people in the San Francisco Bay Area.
